Yoga As Muse: A Writing Retreat for Embodied Mind & Imagination with Jeffrey Davis The Omega Institute, Rhinebeck, New York Sept 19-24, 2010 The elusive muse has teased and evaded writers for centuries. Distractions, busy-ness, fear, self-criticism, and lack of compassion threaten to keep the muse away. If our muse is left unattended, we can grow irritable, frustrated, and thwarted in fulfilling our innate creative potential. Yoga As Muse inspires writers to discover how an energized body and expansive mind can awaken their muse. In this retreat-like course, we will integrate yoga's tools into a creative writing process that leads to authentic heart-centered writing. Through unique Yoga As Muse exercises that weave yoga with writing, discussions on the soul of craft, safe & optional Read-Aloud sessions, and short readings of professional writing, you will experience how yoga hones awareness of your embodied mind both on the mat and on the page. Ultimately, you will develop your own Yoga As Muse practice to take home. Confidence, versatility, authenticity - those three qualities Yoga As Muse instills in writers of all backgrounds. Curious yogis, journalers and aspiring writers, professional writers, and teachers of writing are welcome. No yoga background is required. Register online at Omega's website.
