Special 2011 Focus:TRACKING WONDER, THE PORTAL OF POSSIBILITY

Sign up before September 30th, 2010 to receive a discount.

Experience the wonder of using yoga as your muse with author and yogi Jeffrey Davis. Six days and five nights of workshop and retreat, solitude and conviviality at the magical Mabel Dodge Luhan House in Taos, New Mexico, where you can visit with the ghosts of D. H. Lawrence and Georgia O'Keeffe.

SPECIAL TOPIC: Wonder is not kid's stuff. It turns out to be rather adult stuff. Wisdom, emotions, and creativity - all borne from wonder.

So how do we creative adults with cluttered lives invite in and keep around this stealthy emotion? What conditions and habits common to productive creative people can we draw from and make our own? How can yoga’s science of movement, breath, perception, and mental witnessing aid our explorations?

Those questions in part will put us on the trail of wonder. Tracking wonder is mindfulness mixed with delight and creative action.

If you’re a writer, photographer, artist, or person aspiring to deepen your creative practice and creative life, then you’re invited to join the tracking party.

• You’ll learn what wonder is (as opposed to curiosity, fascination, awe, and joy) and how to recognize it throughout the day as source for renewed insight and enthusiasm.

• You’ll practice four habits common to productive creative people to cultivate wonder.

• Learn the essence of Yoga As Muse - how to integrate yoga sequences, breath work, & meditation into your creative practice.

• You’ll also likely discover how tracking wonder helps you become less reactive and more creative in times of dramatic change and fertile confusion.

Afternoon sessions ground us in craft and optional share & feedback sessions using the Center To Page Feedback Method that assures safe and effective experiences. Optional evening activities include meditation, viewing a film about a creative person (performance artist Meredith Monk, artist Louise Nevelson, or tightrope walker Phillipe Petit), a group dinner, and a nighttime creative Yoga Nidra (Yoga of Deep Sleep) experience. The last evening culminates in a Participant Reading & Showing.

Ultimately, you will come away with a full tool belt so you can return home ready to enter a portal of possibility in your daily creative life.

You will have the freedom to do as you wish at this retreat. Collectively, though, we will explore how to write and create by tracking wonder.

Absorb the free time & wide New Mexico space to honor your muse, to walk to the Taos Plaza, to hike in the Taos Ski Valley, to walk-n-talk with a new friend, to visit the Taos Pueblo, to meet with Jeffrey for a private coaching session, or to rejuvenate your spirit & soul.

The Digs

THE MABEL DODGE LUHAN HOUSE is the place in Taos to explore your creativity. A renegade New York socialite, Mabel Dodge left behind city comforts to carve her creative path on the Taos arroyos. She and her lover Tony built the charming "adobe farmhouse" that we rent for your retreat. Some of you will sleep in rooms where Georgia O'Keeffe, D. H. Lawrence, Ansel Adams, and other creative luminaries rested their spirits.

In March, the last hints of winter fading, the house is quiet. We often have the whole space - minus the delightful staff - to ourselves. The Mabel Dodge chef extraordinaire will pamper us with her renowned breakfast buffets and lunches. Inevitably, spring weather greets us.

Available rooms will vary according to retreat size, but register early to request your favorite room.

Don't fret about double lodging, though. We'll put night owls with night owls, the quiet ones with quiet ones, and so forth. A few private rooms will be available at an extra cost, but previous participants with roommates often leave with a new friend.
